About the village
Aritisans in Akim Abompe have been making bead jewelry for centuries. But the village gas only recently organized to provide tours and visitor facilities. Some villagers mine the bauxite used for beads. Others use simple tools like cutting and polishing stones or bow drills to fashion unique jewelry. In addition to seeing artisans work in their homes, several interesting walks into the beautiful near hills are available, including a visit to a dramatic waterfall.
