222 Wassa asafo shrine edAbout the Village 

From the village of Domama visitors can hike to a dramatic hidden rock shrine believed to be sacred by the loacl residents. The shrine is inside a rock cavity formed by a massive three-story-high fat roof rock balanced on three snaller pedestals. The village also offers dugout canoe tours on the Pra River, one of Ghana's largest and longest waterways.

Begin at the pleasant visior centre and guesthous in the village.Be sure to see the intriguing monument beside the centre with its carved figures built to honor the village's agricultural heritage.

Things to Do

.Take a guided tour to the rock shrine and a cruise on the Pra River. You'll learn about loacl agriculture and the forest as you hike to each site. See abundant birds and butterflie, as well as crocodiles on the river and try fihing if you like. Time: 3.5 hours if driving the first portion in your 4-wheel-drive vehicle or 5.5 hours if walking entire distance. Difficulty: 2 ( Note: either the rock shrine or river cruise can also be done individually).

Tour the village of Damama with guide and learn about daily life, including work, food perparation and lesiure activities. Time; 25 minites. Difficulty: 1 

Experince evening drumming and dancing, which can be arranged on request. Time: variable.
